Spatial Investigations

Few days ago I was assigned to make a collage of images that graphically defined Light and Shadow , Color, Transparency, among other terms. I decided on the approach of taking pictures of buildings that speak for themselves.

These are my favorites:

 Light and Shadow + Color
Windows from the Children's Museum, Boston

Transparency
Unknown (to me) building across from to Stata Center, Cambridge

Rhythm
Harry Parker Boathouse, Brighton

Movement
Harvard Graduate Housing, Cambridge

Boundary
Canopy from MIT Dormitory, Cambridge

Continuity

I saved this image on my computer about 3 years ago, and continue to enjoy it!

I'm interested in how everything (the roof, the bench, the floor and the structure) is part of the same continuos design.

Part of my obsession with repetition and systems in architecture!

Origami Architecture

In a effort to research and understand the Japanese culture, I came across this website:

http://www.origamisources.com/origami_sightings_architecture_design.htm

I really enjoy the close connection origami and architectural systems work, since they both involve the art of "folding" to create spaces.
